Like many aviators, I began my career as a child, by clamoring to the airport fence every time I heard an engine roar on the other side, and dreaming of what it would be like to be sitting inside that airplane, let alone taking it to sky.
I was born in Chile and later on (as a young teenager), moved to Göteborg, Sweden, where I finished my schooling. At 24 years old, I moved to Hillsboro, Oregon to start my aviation dream. Nine months later, I was a Certified Flight Instructor ready to embark on this new career. 25 years and 12 aircraft types later (including 7 type ratings between Boeing, Cessna, Bombardier and Gulfstream)—and array of missions (single pilot cargo, med-evac, charter, corporate and volunteer work), have given me the opportunity to experience aviation through multiple lenses.
In addition to my flying career, I have also served as Safety Officer, guiding our flight department to reach IS-BAO Stage III certification.
In addition, I had the privilege of building and leading a flight department supporting global operations of a G-650. This position gave me great insight and experience in managing, budgeting, personnel acquisition and retention, SOP development and SMS implementation and execution.
In 2014 I founded the Boeing Field Safety Group, cultivating an alliance with the local flying community, using proven methods to foster and promote safety, collaboratively.
In 2016 I became a member of the NBAA Safety Committee, and in 2017 I was honored with the NBAA Dr. Tony Kern Professionalism in Aviation Award.
More recently, I’ve become a volunteer member of Angel Flight West.
